New York Giants Win Super Bowl XLVI

If you have come to find the best Super Bowl Tickets around, you have come to the right place!

The Super Bowl is one of the greatest sporting events in the United States, where the top teams out of the NFC and AFC face off against one another.  Aside from the great football action, there are also many memorable commercials (which run into the range of $3 million for 30 seconds), and a dynamic halftime show featuring some of the world’s biggest music artists.

Super Bowl XLVI was played on February 5, 2012, and featured the New England Patriots against the New York Giants at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.  This game was a rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl XLII where the Giants defeated the Patriots 17-14.  In the 2011-12 season the New York Giants had a up-and-down year, going 9-7 and just barely making it into the playoffs by defeating the Dallas Cowboys in the last week of the season.  However, the team caught fire in the playoffs, defeating the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, and San Francisco 49ers on their way to the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots on the other hand had a fantastic season, going 13-3 and earning the #1 seed in the playoffs.  They defeated the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow handily in their first playoff game, and then barely got past the Baltimore Ravens to make it to the Super Bowl.

As far as Super Bowl XLVI itself, the game started off slowly and then would pick up later in the game.  The Giants started out with a solid drive but were thwarted from making a field goal with Eli Manning getting sacked.  However, in one of the most unusual plays after the Patriots got the football back, Tom Brady threw a pass down the middle of the field with no one around while he was in the end zone, thus costing the team two points with a safety.  After that play the Giants had increased momentum, going all the way down the field and scoring a touchdown to go up 9-0.  The Patriots were then able to take the momentum back in the second quarter, scoring 10 unanswered points to put the score at 10-9 going into the half.

In the second half of Super Bowl XLVI the Patriots stormed out of the gate with an impressive drive, culminating in a touchdown to take the lead 17-9.  However, the Patriots were not able to get their offense going for the rest of the quarter and New York chipped away at their lead with two field goals to make it 17-15.  The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle, with the Giants finally pulling through with an amazing catch by Mario Manningham to midfield and then driving it the rest of the way for a touchdown to make it 21-17 with only one minute remaining.  Tom Brady was not able to get anything going and thus the New York Giants won it with a final score of 21-17.

The 2013 Super Bowl will be held in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Check back with us soon to find some great Super Bowl tickets!

Super Bowl Tickets

Super Bowl Tickets

Super Bowl tickets are the most highly sought after sports tickets in the world today.  Being one of the most popular sports in the United States makes getting tickets to this game that much more difficult.  There are two ways an individual can get Super Bowl tickets, but one thing is for sure about both of them: expect to shell out some cash.

For whatever reasons, the only way the public can get Super Bowl tickets is through a lottery.  In other words, there is no direct way to get the tickets through the NFL.  Instead, there are two ways in which one can enter into a lottery for the tickets.  The first way is to send a letter to the NFL at least a year before the Super Bowl starts requesting to be entered into the drawing for tickets.  Only one entry is accepted so do not bother trying to flood the NFL with thousands of the same letter.  Another way to enter into the lottery is if one is a season ticket holder.  For each Super Bowl the NFL sets aside a certain percentage of tickets for every team to get, ranging from one percent as high as around eighteen percent for the teams that have won their respective divisions.  Most if not all teams will then allow season ticket holders to enter into a lottery to see who gets the tickets.  And thus, if one is a season ticket holder they have a much better chance at getting a Super Bowl ticket, albeit a small one at best.

The alternative and way more expensive way of getting a Super Bowl ticket is through an online website.  Many individuals who win the lottery will then sell the tickets in order to make a handsome profit, and one can try to get them by visiting online ticket sites such as Ticketmaster.  Before bidding on the tickets make sure there are guarantees in place just to make such the person selling them isn’t trying to rip anyone off.

Super Bowl XLV Recap

Super Bowl XLV Recap

Super Bowl XLV was played on February 6, 2011 and featured the Pittsburgh Steelers facing off against the Green Bay Packers.  The Packers were regarded by most as slight favorites over the Steelers going into the game, and when the game was underway events took a similar turn.

Both teams did not have a great start to the game, but the Packers eventually struck first in the quarter with Rodgers throwing a 29 yard pass to Jordy Nelson.  The Packers defense also stepped it up in the first quarter, deflecting a pass by Ben Roethlisberger and returning it for a touchdown to make the score 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.  In the second quarter the Steelers finally got on the scoreboard with a field goal by Shaun Suisham.  However, the Packers came back with a touchdown of their own when Greg Jennings caught a pass to make the score 21-3 with a little bit of time left before the first half was over.  For some reason the Packers just decided to stop playing defense and allowed the Steelers to score an easy touchdown to end the half at 21-10.

In the third quarter the Steelers were able to score on a Rashard Mendenhall run for the only points in the quarter, with the game now 21-17 and closing in fast.  However, at the start of the fourth quarter the Packers were able to score with around 12 minutes left in the game to make it 28-17.  While it may seemed as though it was over to some the Steelers were able to come back and score on a pass from Roethlisberger to Mike Wallace.  With an added two point conversion the score was now 28-25 and well within reach of the Steelers.  The Packers know that since they had the lead all they needed to do was to run down the clock as much as possible, and they were able to do that after the Steelers scored by taking down the clock from 7 minutes to 2 minutes, ending with a field goal make by Mason Crosby.  This forced the Steelers to go for a touchdown, which they were unable to do after failing to convert on a fourth down play, and the Packers would go on to win Super Bowl XLV.

Super Bowl XLVIII to be held in MetLife Stadium

Super Bowl XLVIII to be held in MetLife Stadium

In the year 2010 the NFL announced the highly anticipated move for the Super Bowl to be hosted in MetLife Stadium in 2014.  MetLife Stadium was recently constructed before the 2010 NFL season began in East Rutherford New Jersey, and currently plays home to both the New York Jets and New York Giants.  While it was a move widely expected of the NFL the location had to compete amongst two other stadiums in Florida, Sun Life Stadium in Miami and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.  This move also marks a shift from the NFL’s policy of having games played in either domes or comfortable weather, and if Super Bowl XLVIII is successful more games may be played in colder weather.

If anyone is interested in getting tickets to the Super Bowl in 2014 expect to wear a lot of warm clothing, as the usual temperature in the area in February is below freezing.  However, MetLife Stadium is truly a one-of-a-kind location to host a Super Bowl, as it is very close to New York City and other major destinations.  Who wouldn’t want to see a game similar to that of the Patriots and the Raiders playing in blizzard like conditions?  The cold weather (and possibly snow) will add a unique element to the Super Bowl unlike any other one that has previously been played.

MetLife Stadium itself is truly a tremendous engineering feat, at a cost of over $1.6 billion.  It currently holds the record of having the largest permanent seating capacity in the National Football League at 82,500.  MetLife Stadium is also known for environmentally friendly construction, in which there were many things done to help out the environment.  For instance, over 80% of the waste generated during construction was recycled as well as 22,000 tons of scrap metal being reused in building the foundations of the stadium.  MetLife Stadium is truly in a league of its own and should be a great host of Super Bowl XLVIII.

Best Commercials from Super Bowl XLV

Best Commercials from Super Bowl XLV

Ah, the Super Bowl commercials.  If there ever was a time to actually sit down and watch advertisement commercials, it would have to be during the Super Bowl.  Why?  Because the Super Bowl is one of the most watched events in all of sports (estimated 100 million watched Super Bowl XLV), companies have to pay a lot of money (average was $3 million for a 30 second clip) and make it a memorable one that the audience will never forget.  With that said, here are some of the best commercials from Super Bowl XLV

Bud Light Product Placement
As the commercial is being shot the director stops it due to a product being placed in the middle of it.  The screen writer comes over and tells him that by doing it they can get a whole lot of free stuff.  They redo the commercial in a medieval sword fighting scene where Bud Light items are ubiquitous.   A person jumps through a stained glass with a Bud Light logo, a Bud Light arcade in the background, and so on.  Overall it was a cleverly crafted commercial that was humorous at the same time.

Bridgestone Reply All
An employee in a typical office setting sends an email to a person right next to him, and the other guy replies that he accidently sent it reply all.  What ensues after is hilarious, in which the person is screaming the entire time trying to destroy everyone else’s electronics in the company before they receive the email.  Right at the end the first guy he sent the email to tell him that he was just kidding, in which the person who sent the email has a horrified look on his face.  It was a fantastic commercial that was both funny and ingenious, and really showed how a company does not really need to make a commercial about its main product (in this case tires) to be extremely effective.

Worst Commercials from Super Bowl XLV

Worst Commercials from Super Bowl XLV

Super Bowl commercials are always great to watch as companies try to get their products out to as many people as possible.  While most of them are cleverly crafted and hilarious, there are a few each and every Super Bowl that are simply not that good.  Here are a few of the underachieving commercials that aired during Super Bowl XLV.

Pepsi Can Thrower
Still remember this commercial?  Most probably don’t, and for good reason.  The commercial starts off with a wife constantly nagging her husband about the choices that he makes revolving around food, whether it is in a restaurant, at home, and so on.  While at a park the husband starts drinking a Pepsi and the wife doesn’t nag him but drinks one of her own.  He wonders why and she says that it is a Pepsi Max with no calories.  At the very end, a good looking female jogger goes by and while he stares at her the wife throws the Pepsi can at him.  However, he ducks at it hits the woman in the head and knocks her out.  The couple then runs away as the commercial ends.  It just was not thought out very well and the ending was completely unnecessary.

Groupon Tibet
The Groupon Tibet is the kind of commercial that just leaves you scratching your head.  In the commercial the narrator begins by talking about Tibet and how the people are in trouble and need help before their culture is lost.  All of the sudden the scene zooms out to a restaurant and he says that they still make a great fish curry though, and that at Groupon he and others are saving a lot on Tibetan food.  This was another commercial that grabs your attention but for the wrong reason.  It seemed more as if the commercial was preying upon the Tibetan people than promoting Groupon, and that is why it underachieved overall.
